THE URBAN FILMS FESTIVAL SETTLES ON FLUCTUART

Fluctuart is happy to welcome the Urban Films Festival for continuous screenings in the heart of the exhibition SANG9 of the collective 9EME Concept during the whole festival. Discover the program of the projections:

WEDNESDAY 07/10 : Residency part 1
Film 1 : Open the doors – 52 minutes

In 2013, at the invitation of their friend and American artist Rahul Mitra, Stéphane Carricondo, Ned, Jerk 45, Mambo, Romain Froquet and Clément Laurentin took over a workshop in Houston (Texas, USA) for 2 weeks as part of the ephemeral residency “Open The Door”. Accompanied by Patrick Medrano, Rahul Mitra, Lovie Olivia, Daniel Anguilu, Gonzo 247 and Tierney Malone for the Texas team, they produced a total of sixty doors worked in solo or duo, exhibited and diffused in the city for several weeks.

September, October 2014. The 9th Concept collective co-produced a new artistic residency in the walls of the Carré in Bayonne, in partnership with the municipality and as an extension of the Black & Basque festival. A week of creation to propose a monumental collective artistic work before the final closure of the place. Among the twenty artists present, there are artists who participated in the residency at the Pleyel Tower, recognized international artists, and artists from the Basque Country. For the 9th Concept, Stéphane Carricondo, Ned, Jerk 45, Alexandre d’Alessio, Clément Laurentin, Romain Froquet, Jules Hidrot, Théo Lopez, LapinThur, Jeykill and Veenom were present. Among the guests were Hervé Di Rosa, Jean Faucheur, Gonzalo Extebarria, Grems, Niark1, Gilbert Mazout, LX One, Patxi Laskarai, Iker Valle, Landry, The Blind and Pedro.

THURSDAY 08/10: Residency Part 2
Film 1 : Aux Tableaux – 60 min

In 2015, Alexandre D’Alessio, a Marseille-based member of the group, commissions and organizes the exhibition “Aux Tableaux! ” in a former school in the Phocaean city. He invited 40 international artists to invest 2,500 m2 of space during a 4-month in situ residency. Located in the heart of Marseille, between the prefecture and the Cours Julien, the former Saint Thomas d’Aquin school covers more than 4,500 m2 and includes a whole school complex: kindergarten, primary, secondary and high school. It is in this school, closed since 2012, that the association Juxtapoz with Alexandre D’Alessio, artistic director of the event and member of the 9th Concept, chose to coordinate an artistic residency. After 4 months of residency, the exhibition, punctuated by various multidisciplinary events, opened to the public from June to October 2015, welcoming over 37,000 visitors.

Film 2 : 25th floor project – 6 min

In 2014, the 9th Concept organized the in situ residency “25th floor” within a then abandoned tower. On the heights of the Pleyel Tower in Saint-Denis, 22 artists discreetly invested the 25th floor of this former space open to Paris and its region. For a week, Alexandre d’Alessio, Bruno Leyval, Clément Laurentin, Franck Pellegrino, Gilbert Petit, Jean Jacques Tachdjian, Jerk 45, Joachim Romain, Juan, LapinThur, LeJam, Mast Cora, Mattia Lullini, Ned, Niark, Nick Torgoff, Pedro, Romain Froquet, Stéphane Carricondo, The Blind, Theo Lopez took turns to take possession of the place.

In 2020, Scratch Paper evolves 2 months by gathering more than 80 artists in the exhibition “Vision d’ensemble, 30 years of artistic dialogue” organized at Fluctuart.

Film 5 : ” The labels ” – 3 min

In 2006, the concept of “Labels” highlighted our relationship to consumption: the labels had on one side a black pencil, blood or India ink drawing of one of the 17 artists invited to participate, and on the other side a fictitious, even absurd price (009€, 109€, 69€, 16/9€, 99€). This urban project has traveled throughout France and the world’s major capitals (London, Istanbul, Los Angeles, Tokyo…), with labels hung on street furniture and the doors of department stores.

In 2006, invited by the Galerie des Enfants de Beaubourg for the exhibition “Tête à tête”, the collective presents its concept of Face à Face.

In 2012, created more than 20 years ago by Stéphane Carricondo, Ned and Jerk 45, the 9th Concept painters’ collective invented an atypical way of living its art, without denying its artistic ambitions nor its credo “art accessible to all”. This film tells the story of the collective from its beginnings to the exhibition “Peinture Fraiche” at Beaubourg in 2008.

SUNDAY 11/10 : Desperados Foundation

Film 2 : ” Courts-circuits ” – 20 min

With Courts-Circuits, six art lovers selected by a jury following a call for applications became the hosts of an original work of art lent for life by six urban artists: Madame, Manolo Mesa, Isaac Cordal, Matth Velvet, Rero and Rouge, an artist from Bordeaux at the center of this idea. Supported by the Desperados Foundation for Urban Art, Rouge was able to create this collaborative experience that allowed them to think about a different art system. In exchange for this lifetime loan, the ambassadors commit to bringing the work to life for the general public by taking it on a tour of Bordeaux at least once a month.
