ABOUT THE FILM

Paris 1983, they are between 14 and 18 years old and write their names on the walls of the city. Inspired by the New York phenomenon, they don’t just reproduce its forms. They create their own style, impose their letters and inspire a whole generation.
They communicate through the letters of their name. They are called Writers.
Graffiti, considered more as degradation than as a form of expression, has never been the object of a serious study. Yet there is here, before our eyes, a major phenomenon, the basis of the whole hip-hop culture, and probably the most modern and meaningful form of expression of the last years. It deserved to be examined.
The director, Marc-Aurèle Vecchione, spent two years researching the history of this movement and gathering all the elements needed to get to the heart of the discipline.
