OnSaturday, June 20, from3:00 to 5:00 p.m., the Bookshop is pleased to welcomeQuentin GassiatandCodex Urbanusfora discussion focused on the concept of time in contemporary urban art.
Through their respective works, the two authors will offer complementary perspectives on an artistic movement characterized by transience, traces, and freedom of expression.
In*La durée de l’éphémère* (The Durationof the Ephemeral), published in March 2026, Quentin Gassiat traces the history of French street art and examines the legacy of these works destined to disappear. Drawing on nearly a decade of interviews with leading figures in the urban art scene, his book explores the concepts of transmission, legitimacy, and recognition within this ever-evolving art form.
For his part, Codex Urbanus, author of*Why Is Art in the Streets?*, advocates for a socially engaged vision of urban art. His essay-manifesto explores the underlying motivations that drive artists to take over public spaces and champions the creative, free, and immediate power of artistic interventions in the streets.
Their dialogue will explore the many dimensions of the relationship between time and urban art: disappearance, memory, heritage, reappropriation, and creation.
Following the conference, they will sign copies of their respective books.
