EXHIBITION – [IN]IMAGINABLE: AN INTRODUCTION TO LOWBROW AND SURREALIST POP ART

-
Free admission

With [IN]IMAGINABLE, Fluctuart offers an immersive experience into the imaginative worlds of lowbrow and pop surrealism. Conceived as an accessible introduction to these artistic movements, the exhibition traces their origins, influences, and contemporary developments through a selection of artworks, iconic objects, and site-specific installations.

Visitors pass through various spaces inspired by the underground cultures that shaped the movement: comics, skate culture, art toys, concert posters, fantasy films, and alternative illustration. Through this dialogue between historical references and contemporary creations, the exhibition reveals the lasting influence of these aesthetics on our collective imagination.

Original works and artist editions by major figures on the international art scene—such as Ron English, Todd Schorr, Jeff Soto, Travis Louie, Tara McPherson, and Dave Cooper—are displayed alongside immersive installations by contemporary artists invited to take over the space, including Amandine Urruty, Benjamin Lacombe, Marco Mazzoni, Stan Manoukian, Stom500, and Veks Van Hillik.

Part contemporary cabinet of curiosities, part journey of discovery, [IN]IMAGINABLE invites visitors to explore a realm where reality blurs into fiction, where childhood meets the strange, and where popular imagery becomes the vehicle for a free and subversive imagination.
