With Sophie Nauleau, Ernest Pignon-Ernest, and André Velter

The Fluctuart Bookshop is pleased to welcome Sophie Nauleau, Ernest Pignon-Ernest, and André Velter for a book signing to mark the release of Kali Yuga – Cycle 2 magazine on Friday, January 16 from 6 to 9 p.m.

We look forward to seeing many of you there.

About the journal:

To review the end of the world at the beginning of each year, Kali Yuga presents itself as both an obvious fact and a pipe dream, a lesson in darkness and a fireworks display, an enigma and a celebration. It is not a futile endeavor, as this planetary labyrinth multiplies the exit doors by following creators—writers, photographers, illustrators, musicians—from all over the world: Estonia, Mexico, Egypt, Bulgaria, China, Greece, England, Iran, Palestine, Korea, Kashmir, Kerala, and, to some extent, France...

With an unpublished story and portfolio by Ernest Pignon-Ernest.

Furthermore, the fact that Cycle 2 revolves around itself is no coincidence. With a cover image by Ernest Pignon-Ernest evoking the terrible tragedy in Haiti, and an epilogue featuring the same artist's jubilant phantasmagoria in Cuba, Kali Yuga seeks to combine lucidity and exorcism in these fateful times. On the one hand, there is the worst reality on Earth; on the other, there is the recourse to the forces of the mind, which make use of the lush improvisations of the imagination, the corrosive ravages of irony, and the weapons of what disarms, dispossesses, and reorients.

Disaster and enchantment: this is not a program, it is an assessment of the situation and how to deal with it. Without illusions, without guarantees, without predictions, but not without boldness.
