Levalet invests in Fluctuartthrough an immersive exhibition created especially for the urban art center.

What better way to evoke the prospect of a future shipwreck than with a floating art center?

A chic reception, hand-picked guests, and the captain of a ship adrift drowning his sense of responsibility in the depths of a blue cocktail. The atmosphere is festive, with parades, superficial chatter, and a feast of euphoria and good food.

Beneath this deluge of merrymaking, there's a hint of a threat. Will it come from the crew's inconsistency? Unsuspected dangers lurking around the liner? Or strange creatures held captive for the enjoyment of guests? As longas the orchestra is playing, we'll remain deaf to the alarm bells.

This exhibition, which brings together installations, paintings, and drawings, is anchored in a humorous and parodic manner in the universe of an evening worthy of a Titanic ball. The venue is taken over by the works to take advantage of its aquatic specificities and to metaphorically evoke various issues specific to our contemporary societies.

Biography

Charles Leval, known as Levalet, was born in 1988 in Épinal. He grew up in Guadeloupe, a region where he came into contact with urban culture, then with the visual arts. He continued his studies in visual arts in Strasbourg; his work, then more focused on video, was nourished by a diligent theatrical practice. He obtained the agrégation in 2012, the year his work began to take place in the streets of Paris and elsewhere. In 2013, he began exhibiting in galleries and participating in international events.

Levalet's work is primarily a work of drawing and installation. He stages his characters, drawn in Indian ink, in public spaces, in a play of visual and semantic dialogue with the surrounding environment. The characters interact with the architecture and unfold in situations that often border on the absurd.
