Life flows through its arteries

OPENING RECEPTION WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 14, STARTING AT 6 PM
OPEN TO ALL

The Fluctuart urban art center invites you to celebrate the opening of our first exhibition of the year with"Life flows through its arteries"!

For the first time, Fluctuart is hosting a private collection for an exhibition that highlights the turbulent relationship between urban art and the Paris metro. An essential playground for graphic expression, the Paris metro has been a rite of passage for many urban artists whose rebellious practice has been exercised throughout its trains and corridors, with bursts of spray paint and adrenaline.

To evoke this urban adventure, collector Jérôme Dauchez had the idea of offering more than 130 urban artists the Paris metro map as a backdrop for their imagination. An indispensable tool for the Parisian transport network, this map, which helps users find their way around, thus becomes a symbolic surface for expression, where the intersecting metro lines, the curves of the Seine, and the abundance of iconic locations form the backdrop for their creations. Imbued with memories or fantasies, symbols or slogans, their works—intimate, demonstrative, even politically engaged—bear witness to the artists' strong ties to Paris.

Between the mise en abyme of their in situ interventions and interpretations of their relationship with the capital, this exhibition offers us an eclectic panorama of urban art, from graffiti to street art, addressing all kinds of figurative and abstract expressions through 73 original works by some of the most representative artists on the contemporary urban art scene.

Fluctuart invites you to explore freedom of expression in public spaces and celebrate the dialogue between graffiti and the subway, art and the city.
