On the occasion of the release of his monograph Pop Graffiti at Alternatives, we are happy to welcome Jo Di Bona for a signing session at the Fluctuart Bookshop on Thursday June 13 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
About the book:
” Ten years ! It seems that it is the ideal time to become aware of how far we have come, the failures that have shaped us, the successes and the encounters that have led us to where we are. » Return by the artist on a path of creation which began by graffitiing the walls of the Parisian suburbs and which continues today on those in the four corners of the world, in galleries and in the most prestigious institutions. A dazzling journey that Jo Di Bona himself is surprised by and which owes a lot to the encounters made over the years, but above all to the enormous work accomplished alongside his muse and companion: Amélie. Pop graffiti, the artist’s true distinctive mark, is a mixture of pop art and graffiti. In the street as in the studio, the technique is the same: a combination of spray graffiti and collage of posters, then torn up, in a very colorful chromatic range. All immediately identifiable by the public. Jo Di Bona claims the pop side of his art, that is to say popular and accessible to the greatest number of people, and likes to feature in his works, famous people as well as illustrious unknown ones, nourished by this generous outlook that he has on humans.
