ART OF SKATE

The Art of Skate exhibition offers a panorama of this urban practice born in the 1950s in the United States, and which from California to France via the Tokyo Olympic Games has seen the development of a community of enthusiasts, sportsmen and artists who have seized the boards as a medium for artistic expression.
From 1st September to 14th October.

With more than 120 boards (surfboards, longboards and skateboards) presented from the 4 corners of the world, it is a journey between the West and East coasts of the United States but also in Europe with more than 80 artists who are exposed. Video and audio content, photos, original works, sneakers, flyers and other objects related to skate culture will be presented around several themes.

Starting from the roots of skateboarding in the USA, the exhibition proposes through thematic tableaux to apprehend the way in which artists from the 4 corners of the world have appropriated this practice and this medium. The way in which historical writers, photographers, musicians, video artists, but also brands (through their collaborations) have seized this movement will be revealed over 200 m2.

An exhibition curated by Philippe Danjean and Stéphane Madoeuf.
